Honeycomb-like 3D Graphene Excels as a Counter-electrode Catalyst in Solar Cells

Using a simple chemical reaction, researchers have produced a 3D honeycomb-like graphene structure that has excellent electrical conductivity and catalytic properties. As a counterelectrode in a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) device, this form of graphene had a power conversion efficiency of 7.8% —very close to the 8% obtained by platinum catalysts, without platinum’s high cost.
